Vincenz Dörner

Student & Automotive Enthusiast · Vienna, Austria

Hi — I'm Vincenz, a student based in Vienna with a lifelong passion for cars. That obsession started long before I could drive and has never really let up. Over the years it evolved from admiring engines and design to following the technology reshaping what a car can even be: autonomous systems, electrification, and the software stacks running underneath all of it.

This blog has its origins in my final school thesis (Abschlussarbeit), which I wrote on quantum computing as a key technology in autonomous individual transport — specifically how quantum algorithms could accelerate the route-planning, sensor-fusion, and optimisation problems that autonomous vehicles face at scale. Researching that paper sent me deep into the technical literature on AVs, and I set up this site as a companion project to organise and share what I was learning.

In 2026 I fundamentally rebuilt the site from scratch — new design, new structure, new articles — to reflect how much the field had moved on and how much my own understanding had deepened since the original version.

This is entirely a private hobby project. I'm a student, not a professional engineer or journalist. The articles are my best attempt to synthesise publicly available research into accessible writing, but please excuse any programming rough edges or the occasional factual imprecision. If you spot an error or just want to talk about the topic, I'm always happy to hear from you.

You can reach me via LinkedIn or find my other work at justvd.com.
